So the main reason I purchased this frame was because my front license plate bracket had been the victim of far too many close encounters...basically the plastic was cracked at the corners and overall compressed due to parking too close to the wall too many times by the previous owner. This being a luxury car, I decided to look online for the proper replacement. Most auto websites online didn't sell the correct one, but I did find a dealer that did a good job posting parts specs online, only to find the piece of plastic cost 90 dollars. And no, I was not planning on paying that much.So I decided to give this a try. I would say there are a few issues to be aware of:1a. It seems a "selling point" of this frame is that you pop in your license plate and then secure the frame + license plate straight into your bumper.1b. This is much more in line with a license plate frame rather than a license plate bracket.A lot of the photos here show it seemingly doing the job of both the bracket and frame...on cars with a flat front grille. But with the way my car's bumper is shaped (or any car in which the front bumper has sharp angles), it does not do a good job of being the bracket at all. So I would consider this to be simply nothing more than a rubber license plate frame (1b).Furthermore, the way it is designed to be attached to the bumper (assuming you use this as the license plate bracket also), is straight through the license plate holes. For those of you who already have a bracket in place, you just screw it onto the bracket, which I imagine is no big deal. For those who saw the photos as a bracket replacement, you are forced to make a choice - do you want to put two more screw holes into your bumper? Most likely, your original bracket had the screw hole placement in a different location than that of the license plate. So if you have to remove your old bracket (like I did), you now must decide if you want two new holes (or perhaps even 4 holes) punched into your bumper.2. Following on from point 1a, I decided to go for it and punched two new holes into the bumper. And then I realized the mistake I made. Again, my front bumper where the license plate goes juts out beyond the rest of the bumper, which recesses behind it. I realized why the manufacturer's 90 dollar piece of plastic worked so well as soon as I finished attaching the license plate and flexyframe. Quite simply, the original bracket created a flat surface and perpendicular angle (to the ground) on which to mount the license plate. It was built to overcome the curves of the bumper. With the flexyframe, I installed it in line with the old drill holes so they wouldn't be exposed, but it had a slight slope to it...which caused my plate to just out like buck teeth. Let's just say anyone who wants to read my plates while standing certainly appreciate not having to look down so far... Needless to say, this looks terrible.3. From other reviewers, the bottom two hole attachments are far too big to be pushed through the license plate to secure it. I just let them ride freely.4. This is a rubber item, and since I don't have all the bottom points secured, it has the tendency to be pulled along by gravity, so the bottom middle sags slightly.Bottom line, if you have a flat grille and don't mind putting new drill holes into the bumper, could be a good idea. If you don't, this is not a bracket replacement...make sure you have a good bracket to install this onto. Otherwise it could look terrible.there were other alternatives to this product, but at double or triple the cost I decided to go with this one and I can't be any happier. The rubber is thick but not TOO thick that it'll cover your license plate number when looking from the side view. I've read with the thicker versions from competitors that the police actually have pulled people over because the frame obstructs the view of the plate. I don't think that'll be an issue with this plate. This frame comes with two plugs for the bottom holes if your car is a two screw system. My car happens to be a two screw system and the plugs did not fit into the license plate frame, I had to trim down the rubber for it to fit. If it weren't for that, this would be a 5 star review.I also like that the branding of this frame is very small and doesn't take away for the aesthetics of the car.Had one on my last car so purchased again for new car.Fits perfectly on my 2007 Honda Odyssey plate using 4 screws. I wish I have learned about this sooner. My wife rear ended a brand new car at a stop light at around 1mph or less. My car have no damage however, the screw from my car have scratched the paint on the other car. The dealer estimated the cost to be over $900.00 to fix. I don't now how a scratch will cost $900.00. Maybe the dealer will replace the whole bumper. Anyway, searched around on how to avoid this type of headache again and this seem to be the solution.I got the LD version which is supposed to be the light duty but the material is heavy and looks like it will be more than enough to absorb the impact of a minor fender bender. I will buy another one for my other car.------------------------------------Update - 12/09/13I purchased another one for my Toyota Corolla which only use 2 screws. I was able to pull the tab from the bottom to the license plate screw holes. It is a little challenge to pull the tab but it can be done. The HD is really awesome, thick and really protects. But it is really really heavy. Since my car had no license plate bracket and only two screws holding the license plate in the bumper, I got this one also, (moved the HD to another car). This one was much lighter. Will it protect as well as the HD, heck no, but it was better than having the license plate rip out of the front bumper. Will the LD protect me from parking and accidentally hitting the wall in a parking deck, yep. Will it help from other drivers when they parallel park, not as much as the HD. They parallel parker must be moving really slow and stop when they know they made contact. The HD can absorb a little move movement (meaning someone backs into your car and keeps on going just a little bit more, and I mean a very tiny bit more). As its name implies, this is indeed a "flexy" license frame and probably works best with vehicles with a flat mounting space or a separate license plate holder to give it support. Unfortunately, my 2017 Crosstrek doesn't - so the license plate itself is needed to give frame support and keep it from flexing. I suspect if this frame comes into contact with something hard, all it will do is bend (along with license plate) which might limit the amount of protection it offers. Time will tell. I like the WeatherTech bumper frame better and have it on our Forester. It has a softer moulded outer layer around a harder plastic center core and as such is less "flexi", but does a better job of protecting the license plate itself.I actually bought this a few years ago but just yesterday it did it's job! I was stopped in my BMW when another larger BMW decided to back up because he missed the exit he wanted! In spite of my leaning on the horn when I saw what was happening, he didn't stop in time and his car hit mine with a jolt. Oh boy, I thought--how much damage? The man was all appologetic, and when we inspected both vehicles, neither his black bumper, nor my white one had even a scratch. We both agreed that his bumper 'bounced' off the Flexiframe guard on my plate and saved us both from a big hassle.
